Two dead in Dubai plane crash DUBAI: A cargo plane has crashed near a busy highway in Dubai, setting some cars on fire and sending a column of smoke into the sky.
The aircraft belongs to the US courier United Parcel Services (UPS). It came down near the busy Emirates Road on Friday while trying to land at Dubai International Airport, media reported a civil aviation official as saying.
Both crewmembers on board the plane have died. Some media reports quoted witnesses as saying the plane was ablaze before crashing.
The official United Arab Emirates news agency WAM said the plane crashed in an unpopulated area.
It was not immediately known how many people were aboard the cargo plane.
